HackerRank raises $30 million in Series C funding

Coding and recruitment platform HackerRankhas raised $ 30 million in a Series C round led by US-based JMI Equity with participation from existing investors Khosla Ventures, Battery Ventures, Randstad and Chartline Capital Partners.

HackerRank will use the new capital to accelerate its growth in the enterprise space, expand its community and also advance its data science research and development.

“We are going to invest in three areas- we will double down on our enterprise market. We want to develop our community of developers and want to increase our data science capabilities,” said Vivek Ravisankar, CEO of HackerRank.

HackerRank is a technical hiring platform that helps businesses evaluate software developers based on skill. Over 1,000 customers across all industries use the platform to evaluate and hire technical talent from around the world. Some of the company’s customers include BlackRock, Atlassian, VMware and Capital One.

HackerRank is looking to strengthen its data science capabilities to get insights into developer skills and match them to the right job opportunities. These analytics will enable HackerRank to identify and match candidates with job openings.

“We see a massive opportunity in HackerRank. Over 10 percent of the world’s population of software developers and over a thousand companies use HackerRank,” said Suken Vakil, General Partner at JMI Equity. Vakil has joined HackerRank’s Board of Directors.
